Help! Rebuild cost for insurance problem

I'm shopping around for cheaper home/contents cover.
I moved in to current property in 2003 and took a policy with Direct Line - I've checked the document and the rebuild cost is listed as £190K which is the amount listed as 'Insurance re-instatement figure' on the survey I had done at the time.
I've just accepted the renewal quote since then.
Now I want to shop around I dug out the renewals to check the up to date rebuild cost I am covered for in order to get the correct cover and compare like-for-like and I see that for the first 3 years I had the 190K cover but in the 4th and 5th years this figure has been changed to 1 Million!!!!!!!
Result is I don't know what figure to quote as the property rebuild cost - I initially tried a comparison website with the 1M figure as I only looked at the last renewal quote from Direct line - of course I only got one quote back which was 2K or something. Then I checked the other renewals and found the discrepency and dug out my original survey. (the property is listed)
Can anyone advise how I find the correct rebuild cost for today from the original survey re-instatement figure from my survey in 2003?
