hi everyone
Seem to be having one of those days , where i can only think of the bad things that can happen during BR and not the good things that can happen during BR
I am driving myself insane with worries, can anyone help at the min with certain things that are worrying me.
Firstly its my OH going bankrupt and not me, i am a housewife and look after my two children, we dont have family nearby to help with childcare etc in holidays and childcare is so expensive, thats why i am at home with my gorgoeus children.
The only income we get is husbands salary and 120.00 child benefit, we dont get wftc as apparantly we paid too much a while back so we did not qualify, then hubby set a business up and was supposed to be on a very good basic wage, so did not apply for it( although have been informed we should now apply) did not know this was the case if you were about to be BR.
Basically all the bills come out of his one and only wage, i have a bangor worth approx 300-400 necessary for school run and children activities
Hubby has a car worth approx 1800 this is necessary as he travel with his work and also he picks up colleagues to take to work
So on soa there will be 2 lots of car tax, 2 lots of insurance , and 2 lots of petrol however mine not being large.
Has anyone been allowed this , will this be questioned, he def needs his for work, and my childrens school is not exactly near.
what do you think will happen, will it be ok. or does anyone have advice
thanks as always for your kind words and knowledge

It will all come down to whether your car is essential or just convenient. Can you realistically get public transport to school? If not, you will have to make a convincing case to the OR.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Right for starters i can not do that thing they do which shows your post then add things so this may be a slow reply:o
For starters you are allowed £10 per adult, £3 per child haircuts.
Put your phone up to include internet ect but under 1 heading(they dont allow internet unless hubby needs it for work and can prove it)
Dentist/perscription/optician should be more for 2 of you bunch them together under the heading health.
Dont forget as you are not working and oh is sole earner then you have t put all expenses
H/K should be more
Clothes should be more
They do not always allow birthadys or xmas(they did in my case)so up it, what the heck they can always cut it down/scrap it.
Pets do you have any pets?. They usually allow £20 a mth for pets
Hopefully somebody with more experiance will be along soon. That said it's taken me that long going backward and forwards to see what you put down, you may have all gone to bed by now:rotfl:Free impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

I think you may have put to much down for housekeeping (£450) but then if you don't ask you certainly don't get.
Its natural to worry about it we wouldn't be human else, it's fear of the unknown IMO. Try to remember the reasons your doing this and how you'll feel once you don't have the stress of huge amounts of debt hanging from you. I've been there I can assure you it's not all bad!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Oh also forgot to mention I don't see anything for holidays, your allowed a small amount towards a holiday (25 for a singleton, so perhaps 50-100 for a family of 4 perhaps?)Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0

hi thanks for your reply, well i think they are essential(well i would wouldnt i)
i have 2 children one is nearly 4 the other 10, our local school is a long way for a 4 year old to walk (nearly 2 mile), they also have a swimming lesson in the week again this is far, also food shopping weekly,
hubby needs his for work as he works 12 hour days, where he works when he finishes at night there wont be a bus on0 -
Hi Debt sucks:),
I would have thought your car would be OK, as you're not the one going BR.
But your OH's is going BR, it would depend on whether the car is essential for getting to work, or simply convenient (not being funny:), that's how they look at it), and do the people he picks up work for him? If so that would be another case in your favour. That said, someone will clarify in a minute I'm sure, but I think cars under £2000 may be exempt anyway?
Cheers.0 -
I think as you've said that hubby works 12 hour shifts and no bus at the end of his shift this makes his car essential
I would have thought that yours would be also since the school is 2 miles awaySometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -

Too much h/k £450?. The rule so i am told is approx £7 per day per adult. Someone today who is single, rents a room at their parents was told to put down at least £150. So to me £450 for a family of 4 including all cleaning products and toiletrees(sp) is actually a little on the low side. Then again i am no expert:o See what others say debtsucks.Free impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
