Comparison site changed but tariffs have not?

I recently did the price comparison check (20th Feb) and it showed EDF dual fuel to get me a saving of £300+. Last week, some documentation arrived for me to check from EDF, so I thought today I would have a quick check that they were still the cheapest before sending it back. Today, they are no where near the cheapest (now British Gas at saving of £225). I checked to see if any energy prices have changed recently and they have not (apart from the intro of some fixed price tariffs). Am now very confused as to what happened to EDF? I know I keyed everything in right first time as I did it twice on different sites.
Anyone else with similar experiences or can help me explain?

I think some of those comparison site are not always impartial and sometimes give those who pay them a more prominent feature, also its best to input your consumption rather than payments to get a more accurate deal0

Similar thing for me, e-on came out cheapest after last round of price increases so was going to change to them but had to sort out a problem with supply number first, did another check this week and npower came out cheapest -although when did a quote on their website it said would be £20odd more expensive! Tried to check the unit prices to compare but even that is not so simple - and I used to work for an electricity company in billing so should have some idea!
When is someone going to sort out the mess this so called competition has caused?0
