buying a new car
Options
Hi all
am thinking of buying a new car in the next few weeks, and wondered if anyone has any tips or advice on where to get it, or any ways to save money. Have a car to trade in already.
Am looking to buy either - an audi A2, a renault megane or a renault scenic - going to do some test drives and decide soon
any advice?
cheers

the first thing someone will say is "Don't do it - the depreciation is 30% the moment you drive off the forecourt" or something like that.
But if that's what you're determined to do, the best website for all things car is undoubtedly Honest John.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
First question is whether you really need the new car smell... Most car companies have some sort of 'approved' 1-2 year old scheme where they give you a similar warranty to new. I've used Ford Direct - typical savings for a one year old car over 30% off list (cars are usually ex lease stock, RAC inspected).
Dunno about Audi but there is a renault approved scheme, only problem is that the web site search doesn't seem to do anything - maybe just a temporary glitch, so here's the link http://www.renaultuk.co.uk/ApprovedUsedRenaults.aspx0 -
Hello jase
Have you looked at the JD Powers site www.jdpower.com for information to measure quality and customer satisfaction for Audi and Renault?
If you decide to log onto their site, click on Consumer Site, click on UK (Union Jack Flag), then click on the 'For advice on your new vehicle click here'
You can enter the three car models you're interested in and see the ratings for mechanical quality etc. I've just looked at your choices and the ratings for mechanical quality are low.........1 (Audi A2) and 2 (both Renault models).
It might help you with your decision.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -

As mentioned Honest John - clik on his 'This Weeks Best Deals link, for up to the minute savings!!
Just about EVERY brand has excelent offers, currently, on NEW, so make sure you've taken heed of all the deals around, in case you THINK the 'nearly new, pre-reg car in the showroom is a bargain!
Even saving another £500, on, say last registration letter & a few months old,may not be REAL savings, once you think of lost portion of warranty,/tax/breakdown cover. plus, depending on how long you intend keeping it, the trade in value of 55/54 reg is $£$£$£$.
Most people will rate Audi above French brands, but it's YOU that has to like whatever you choose, so have what YOU want!! Audi/VW/Mercedes ain't like wot they used to be!!!!
