Mobile Phone Insurance Scam

Hello, this is my first post, so please bear with me.
I tried to make a claim on my mobile phone ins. this morning but the number was disconnected. Rang Car Phone Warehouse, who said that the ins. wasn't theirs(even though they'd called me). They said to tell ofcom, who said to tell FSA who said that there seemed to be no actual ins. underwritten and to tell OFT. They said to tell Consumer Direct who told me to look at Companies House, which I did and the company (Eazy Connect Ltd) are insolvent. What now? O2 have said tough luck and that I'll have to stay with my contract(without a phone) even though after googling Eazy Connect it appears that O2 are pursuing them in court for impersonating them on the phone selling insurance. I've been on the phone most of the day and am still none the wiser:mad:. Can't claim on the credit card because I paid by debit card. Please help me!

you could try to find out if the company has been taken over by administrators, if it has you may be able to put in a claim with them0

The issue appears to be whether or not you actually have an insurance policy in place. Did you receive any policy documents at all? The policy would normally be underwritten by a third party. If you can find who the underwriter is you could approach them directly.
If however, the retailer has taken your money for the insurance but then failed to set up the insurance I think you are on more difficult ground. (It is not clear from your post who the retailer of the insurance policy was - Carphone Warehouse or Eazy Connect - presumably Eazy Connect after you purchased a phone from CPW?) I suspect this is the case and hence the run around you are having. I suspect your only recourse is to register a claim with the administrators of Eazy Connect, but you are likely to get nothing. As an outside shot, you could try approaching the Financial Services Compensation Scheme for advice and to see whether you are covered by the scheme, but I think it's unlikely in this scenario.0
