gprs activation

Options
I posted the below in the mobile phone forum, but i have not had any suggestions,so i thought i would try here?

Hi,
Does anybody know how to activate my gprs account?

I am with Tesco mobile,so i rang them to activate it,they said that a text would be sent to myself, and that i would just need to select "yes".

A text arrived, when i selected "yes" a list of options came up

new account/vo wap gprs/vo mms gprs/vo wap csd/vo mms csd/vodaphone/gprs 5/tesco wap gprs

Now,when i try and sync with my Tom Tom Go 700 it goes through the process, then the phone displays "gprs parameters not supported"

Anybody know what to do?

Thanks in advance.

These are instructions for setting up an SE K700i, not sure how much the menus have changed since the T610. If you still find no port settings it may be that ou have to tag it on to the gateway IP address as Gateway (IP) address : 193.113.200.195:9201

Go to the main menu highlight ‘Connectivity’ push select, scroll to ‘Data Comm’ and push select highlight ‘Data Accounts’ and push select then highlight ‘New Account’ and push Add, then highlight ‘GPRS Data’ and push select, Enter the Name ‘TESCO WAP GPRS’ and push continue then Edit each of the following in turn
    APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
    Username: tescowap
    Password: password
Then select ‘Save’, push the ‘back’ key ‘twice’, highlight ‘Internet Settings’
Push ‘Select’ then highlight ‘Internet Profiles’ and push select, then highlight ‘New Profile’ and push ‘Add’
Then highlight ‘Name’ and push ‘Add’ then enter ‘TESCO WAP GPRS’
Then highlight ‘Connect Using’ and push ‘Select’ then highlight ‘TESCO WAP GPRS’ and push ‘Select’
Push ‘Save’ then Highlight TESCO WAP GPRS and Select More then ‘Settings’, Then Edit the following
Connect Using: TESCO WAP GPRS (this will be done already)
    Internet Mode: HTTP
    Use Proxy: Yes
IP Address: 193.113.200.195 (the dots will space out automatically)
    Port Number: 8080
    Username: tescowap
    Password: password
After these are input Select ‘Save’
Highlight ’TESCO WAP GPRS’ (again) select ‘More’ then Select ‘Advanced’
Highlight ‘Change Homepage’ and push ‘Select’ then highlight ‘Name:’ and push ‘Edit’
Enter ‘O2 ACTIVE’ and push ‘OK’
Then highlight ‘Address’ and push ‘Edit’ then enter ‘http://wap.tesco-mobile.com’
    Then Select Save
    Push the ‘Back’ button
Highlight ‘TESCO WAP GPRS’ and push ‘Select’
Then Go to Main Menu and Select ‘Internet’ then ‘More’ then ‘O2 Active’ to connect to the home page

After Setting up the GPRS WAP connection’
From the main menu select ‘Messaging’ then scroll down to settings and select, then scroll to ‘Picture msg’ and push select then Edit the following in turn.
    Validity Period: Network Maximum
    Read Report: Off
    Delivery Report: Off
    Creation Mode: Alert
    Auto Download: Always
    Accept Messages: Tick Both
    Message Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Internet Profile: select ‘TESCO WAP GPRS’
You can then push the back key until the customer gets to the ‘Messaging’ menu, and try sending a Picture Message

    go here
select the necessary options from the menus and you should get the settings you need sent to your phone.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.
  • I managed to follow the instuctions kindly sent by Woby_Tide,this has enabled me to connect to the internet, but my Tom Tom Go is still not setting up a wireless internet connection.

I think the problem is with the Tom Tom now,so i will ask on the Tom Tom forum.

    Thanks both.
