We are going sometime at the beginning of April, husband wants to go as soon as possible. I am looking at around 8/9 which isn't very far off now. We are flying back and have already booked those flights.

Thank you all for your interest.
  • TBH I really think the Hull-Zeebrugge trip is the best bet. I have done this journey probably 20-30 times. The P&O Ferries are very comfortable, but I would recommend whichever route you take to always pay extra and book an outside cabin, i.e. one with a window. Otherwise it is like sleeping in a wardrobe. Even to the point where I don't make the crossing if I can not have an outside window!

The ships have stabilisers fitted, you sail in the evening and arrive early the following morning, so the crossing is less than 12 hours.

    Well recommended!!!!

    Bon Voyage, whatever you decide!

I don't suppose it would be financially viable to sell your second car here and buy a little run around out there?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I tried to get a quote for Plymouth to Santander but I need the make and model of your car. I put in a fiesta and it came back with £234 with an inside cabin.

No, we have thought about buying a car there for quite a while but for some reason secondhand cars are very expensive there. When we bought the new car we had the option then of trading in but we really think it would be best to take the old one there so it saves us money in the long run for a few years ahead. We know of garages that can look after these kinds of cars there so we think that's the best bet really. Decision not made as yet but I have a price, thanks, for the Plymouth-Santander for an outside cabin for two people with the car - it will be £269. It didn't ask me for the make, it just wants to overall size which is average. It's not really the price, it's the agony of being seasick etc. However, we will just have to grit our teeth (literally!) and get over it.
