Help with Flat Numbers and Postcode search

I must start off by apologising because I am not sure that this is posted in the right thread.
I live in a house which contains two flats 'a' and 'b'. The council tax and utilities have both flats differentiated. However, whenever I try to do a postcode search online the two flats are not listed. It just has 15 not 15a and 15b. This is turning into a problem because everytime a company searches their database they put me down as living at 15 not 15a.
Is there a place I need to notify to change this. Do companies use the royal mail database for postcodes?
Any help would be appreciated

does the a/b come up via RM as an option?
you may need to notify them.
its an ongoing problem on house conversions.0 -
Hi, the reason for the postcode system not listing the two flats is probably because when the conversion was done from one house, RM were likely not informed. Also are the seperate letterboxes for each flat or does the post just go into one box?
If you contact RM customer services on 08457740740 and ask for the contact details of the address management unit they'll be able to advise whether it's possible to change the database details to solve you this problem.0 -
Thank you for your responses. The post does indeed go through one letterbox..
If the Royal Mail change it on their database does this mean that when companies such as BT do a postcode search, the flat number will show up?0 -
Also, in response to custardy, the a/b does not come up on the post code search0

If they change it yes it will, however if both sets of mail are going through one letterbox they may not change it, as it's only one delivery point. Might be worth considering having seperate letter boxes (it's also better for security of your mail) if it's at all possible.0
