When I went I was the only one out of 5 or 6 people there for bankruptcy who was on their own.. really wished i'd taken someone (even if it was just from rentafriend.com!!)

As it was I was in there for about 2 and a half hours so dragged on a lot, other people have only been in there for about half an hour though so depends on how busy it is I guess!

Good luck for it when you go!!

Hello all Just got back from court, I've taken my completed forms in today.Saw a clerk who checked them through "sure she looked shocked at the amount" Guess she's seen it before.I feel so stupid for letting myself get into this situation. I consolodated 2 HSBC loans in Sept and they kindly added 15k interest over the 8 year period. They didnt once ask to see my budget etc....CCCS said they are irresponsible lenders and that I must stop beating myself up so much. Just feel guilty I guess, only natural. I had every intention of paying my debts but robbing Peter to pay Paul isnt good.I have to go back next Tuesday at 0930.Oh yes my mum is coming too - thanks to you all for your help and support. This site has to be the life saver xxxx

Good luck for next week Sammi and well done for everything you have achieved so far and it is an achievement you should be extremly happy with, asking for help and acting on it is the hardest thing to do.

I am really happy you will not be alone at the court - i may ask my sister to come along when its my day....she's a bit older than me and always keeps me on the straight and narrow if she can.

i know what you mean regarding the consolidation loans...it seems a quick fix but always ends in paying more as you pay the full interest on first loan then pay interest on top of this for the 2nd loan (?...think that made sense...?) They should be stopped really or some sort of goverment intervention to prevent all this extra interest being added then im sure the BR stats wouldnt be increasing year on year and house repossesions would be lowered too.

Anyway, well done and Good luck Sammi.

  • Hello Sammi.

Well done on today,I went to court yesterday with my forms, Had to go back today to get my order, never saw the judge, everyone at the court was so helpful,it is a strange feeling I have that i'm now debt free. Dont feel guilty about what you've done,I dont feel guilty at all but my health comes 1st,if my creditors had been a bit more reasonable it may not have happened.

I'm glad your mum is going with you, that must be a relief for you.

Thanks so much for your kind words and support, Frodo, Toon Dave, Feeling low and Outrageous Monkey lol.Yes I do beat myself up something cronic, but getting stronger day by day.Got home from taking my papers today and had a nasty letter from GE Bank.Threatening to take me to court or pass on to a Debt collection agency.Roll on next Tuesday when I can answer the phone and say I'm BR - I'll feel like shouting it by then.I've been saving for this for months and read loads, thankfully this site is brilliant.I agree the banks and cc companies should be stopped. When I consolodated the loans HSBC were only interested in themselves. I struggled from September paying them and cards etc. Working full time and a cleaning and pub job all of last year, then bang went off with stress and my doctor said something has to give. Guess I thought i could do it all and it would be paid eventually. Thanks guys and gals for listening to me moaning on and on and on lol....Frodo well done you for the BR,,,, ok I must not feel guilty anymorexxxxx
