Hello all, finally have my date arranged for BR next Tues 1st April.I have been reading all the posts on here today for over an hour and they help so much.Have to take my forms to the court tomorrow. Then fee and date next week.I am absolutely petrified, worried they will "turn me down" although CCCS didnt seem to think they would. They advised BR is best option otherwise will be 20 years paying back on a DMP.Scared incase they say I've spent stupidly when like everyone else most of debt is general living expenses. So stressed at moment and not sleeping. Think I have every kind of rash going right now.Speak soon xx

Hi Sammi, I was worried the judge would turn me down despite being advised by the CCCS, when I went to court the judge said that she could see I had advice from the CCCS and that they only advise bankruptcy as a last resort and she wasn't going to disagree with them. Basically, from my own limited experience, if the CCCS advise bankruptcy then the judge will grant it.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0

Hiya Sammi & welcome to the forum, you've done the biggest step so far & sounds like your pretty organised, I doubt the judge will turn your application down since you've spoken to cccs things might have been different if the judge asked if you had had any professional advice & you replied no or you didnt really owe enough to declare bankrputcy (its £750 incase you wondered)
Good luck with everything on the day..what a date april 1st
, dont forget 3 copies of forms your fees possibly something to read (you'll be hanging around for a little while) some change for a drink......meantime anything you need just post... We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Hi Sammi,
I aggree with Waspeze, I think as long as you have taken Professional advice etc and have shown that you didnt deliberately run up the debts (after all non of us have done that) then the judge will grant it.
i havent heard of anyone on here who has been refused their BR order..
So i think you will have nothing to worry about. i know i worried about that first off but every bit of advice ive taken has said nothing to be concerned about.
If you need further info then please come and ask us.
Dave.

TBH, I have not heard of a case on either site I visit about someone being refused BR.
You have had great advice from CCCS and if they advise you to go BR, then thats what you should do. The judge will agree.
(The judge is also NOT going to say, " I'm refusing the petition......... Ha - April Fool, course I will!!")
Make sure you have your forms x 3 copies, full fees (plus the exemption forms completed and provided with up to date proof if that applies to you), some money for the drinks machine (mine wasn't working!) and a companion for a chat or a good book!0 -
Hello
The whole process is quite painless. They do not turn you down,at least i have never heard of anybody being turned down. Try to read some of the posts that are Titled my day in court or similar and you will get a feel of what to expect. Some see the judge but others like myself never even saw him. The whole thing takes maybe 3 hrs at the most then thats it. In theory you are debt free but emotionally it can take anything up to 2 mths to feel the freedom. Hello

Can second that! I still cannot believe that I am debt free. I often look at my friends (not all know about my BR) and when they complain about their mortgage/car payments/food bills etc and think that although my position was hard won and not exactly stress-free, I AM in a better position than they are. I am free. And I am (now) happy.0 -

I would suggest taking someone with you over a book. Preferably some one you can natter nonsense to while waiting.
I took a book and although it helped it didn't really take my mind off it.0 -
I took a book and just stared at the pages without actually reading any of it
