Free Virtual Switchboard

Hello All,
Im working for a London Charity and we are looking at options for a switchboard for our new phone service.

We also are looking to buy a national rate number. I have however been told of free virtual switchboards which come with a number. For example:

www.virtualswitchboardfree.co.uk/

Does anyone have any experience of using virtual switchboards or advice on a company you have used.

Thanks

james

Are you planning to accept calls from abroad? Apart from this catch, the 0844 system they offer looks quite good. You should ask what happens to your 0844 number if you wish to change your virtual switchboard supplier later.

Grrrrrr... the 0844 no's, same that the Dr's use. The one that cost me well over £3.00 on my mobile, just to find the results haven't arrived yet. The one that my workplace - a hospital blocks so you cant speak to the GP even from a public phone there. I hate being ripped-off. and robbed!

I've got to the stage if i see an 0844 or 0870 no, I phone the companies competitor to order things.

Have you tried www.saynoto0870.com great site. Also, get your docs to phone you back and see what number they use by 1471 and call that in future? Your local NHS Trust should have a website, which will (should!) have the geographic number in it. Failing that complain to your NHS Trust General Manager, and say you're not standing for it!

I use switchboardfree.co.uk and it's really good. Get 1 number free but can upgrade for more numbers. Allows you to route the number to a landline number or multiple numbers.

Judging by the colour scheme, switchboardfree.co.uk and virtualwitchboardfree.co.uk are one & the same behind the scenes...

Thanks, but tried this. My Dr and most of the new nos above are not listed on saynoto0870. Hospitals etc should withhold numbers as a matter of privacy to the patient- many patients would not want their manager to dial 1471 and find out it was the STD clinic that called.

I did find out that certain phones in the labs can dial those numbers
