Bob you have been thinking about a change of direction job wise- well, I think you should set yourself up as a (odd job) handylady. Loads of women would prefer a female in their house than a strange man IYSWIM. Can she do it ? YES she can .
I know half my neighbors get their jobs done for free- well i can't say no.I hate having workmen in for stuff i cant do as I am a bit of a backseat driver in that if not done properly i give them hell.
But would you really want a cross dressing, mad woman with a penchant for hairy men in your house? Plus i don't know what marital aids are for as i use a tamping machine instead:cool:
On the job side i got an offer today from a school who has a high percentage of special needs- should fit in with them! But i love working with special needs kids,i am confused now as the supply agency have rung up and asked me not to stop working for them-very flattering and they sent my cv out to this school as they realised how upset i was the other day.Don't know what to do now.

No probs- I agree with you on that score, as i hate going into diy shop and being patronised- i always say it is on a list for my hubby. I have found a good one about 5 miles away who are great and treat me well when i go in. They even know me by name, and ask me how things are going. have recently bought doors and stuff from them for decorating.

Why did you want to give up teaching?

Because the kids were little shiitbags, the head didn't care, and you kept being sent there. True?

How many of those facts would need to be changed before you'd change your mind?

  • Thanks skint, i have noticed that you still want to teach. Are you on a course or just looking?

  • Bob,
    Will you marry me?
    lol.
Actually, DH isgood like that-he can do MOST (when it comes to DIY) he puts his hands to, in fact he built the crib for our children and DD furniture-it's gorgeous, all white and pink castle-like for his little princess, bless.
He can weld, do electrics, paint and decorate, build anything-just dont ask him to plumb! lol

Bob that's great for you - to know that you are so valued. How will you weigh it up ? Have you got a 'gut' feeling about it ? Even if you say yes how long would that commit you for ? Could you give it a go til the summer hols say ? Hope you can come to a decision without too much agonising. XX El

  • Bob,
can you do a 'trial' at the school to see if you like it/them and they you?

I love teaching, but hate the current climate. You are right in what you say and i am in a quandry because it is the old flattery card they are playing-but i also in the past worked in a special needs school which i enjoyed- not necessarily going to be the same now though.
I have been a bit happier the past couple of days because i made a decision not to supply teach and i don't want to go down that route again. This would be a fulltime temp position- so slightly different. I think they were shocked the other day when i told them how i felt- I was fuming! It's hard to give up something you love and trained hard for. But i am thinking it over and will make a decision next week. A lot also depends on current test results for my daughter-if good then i will have more options, if bad then i will not even consider full time work.
