Cashed in 1/3 of my holding for TSB interest but still got £25 on £8000 holding.
That's £100 for the year so far.

How do you buy bonds, do they pull the money from an account/card or do you have to push the money to an account?

The first bonds must be bought using a check or debit card.
Subsequent bonds can be paid using BACS.

Is there a limit on debit card amounts. Don't like sending large amounts through BACS without sending a test amount first(fat finger)

You will need to check with your bank if they have any limits on their debit card.. NS&I wont have any limits on a single transaction as long as your overall holding is within 40k. I once bough 23k in one go with my debit card and everything went through as normal.

Due to a £500 bond this month we are already at 1% return this year....ok still a crap rate, but on par with a lot of other accounts now..

Ouch. Personally I think that's too much money getting !!!!!! all return. I would keep 10K and invest the rest in 30K in funds.

I am just waiting to add the extra £10k to bring this up to the £50k. Waiting to see what's in the budget 18th March. Date is 1st June 2015 announced in the budget.

As for nothing it's one month, previous two months were 4 x £25 and 8 x £25, and overall for 1yr is 1.64% tax free, equivalent to a gross of 2% at the basic rate. I did make use of the 5% Flexdirect and other current accounts.

£40k-£50k in premium bonds is spreading my savings & investments around. Just it's on a larger scale than your £10k / £30k split.
