While looking at the NS&I web site I looked at their Heritage Timeline. In the 2019 entry it mentions that for the first time the minimum number of bonds you needed to buy dropped from £100 to the current £25. But I thought when it first started the minimum was perhaps as low as £1? I have a £1 bond from 1958 when I was born. And another £1 from 1971. Or did my parents have to buy a £100 worth and split it between themselves and the children?

https://web.archive.org/web/20081204082245/http://www.nsandi.com/press-room/premiumbonds50/history_pb.jsp is an old page which includes changes to the minimum number:

    1956 - £1
    1972 - £2
    1976 - £5
    1993 - £100

I don't know if there were others as well as these, as £5 to £100 in one jump seems steep!

No Blank months for a little while, then, as in bus style, 3  in a row,   Holding £7400

Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.

Best get used to it, according to https://premiumbondsprizes.com/detailed#7400 you should only expect prizes in three months per year, with average luck and current prize fund distribution!

I believe there may have been a £25 minimum prior to 1993 as my Business Studies teacher mentioned a £25 minimum in 1996, not realising the minimum had been increased to £100. Certainly £10 worth could be purchased as late as 1987, as I was bought £10 of bonds by my parents in that year. Of course the minimum has been put back to £25 now.

I was bought a £10 bond (which until 2018 was my entire holding) in November 1992.
