My laptop display has gone all weird

in Techie Stuff
The desktop and everything is weirdly pixelated and colours have gone wrong, and icons are bigger than normal. I've gone into display settings in control panel but i don't seem to be abloe to change anything back to how it once was. Any ideas? Maybe i should run system restore? I am a complete numpty about techie things so any help appreciated!

Thanks. After i posted this everything froze so i switched off then on again, stabbed at F7 and F8 cos I couldn't remember how to get into safe mode, and everything came up as normal again. So things seem to be running ok for now.
