  • Sorry for late reply-I lost this post!!

I have used HSBC telephone banking for about 6 years I would say and have had a security code since day 1! Never had a problem with fraud-you have to enter ur sort code and account number, Date of Birth and then SELECTED digits of your security code-not all of them, no-one from the bank would ever ask you the full number-even when it is set in the brach, you are asked to type it in yourself for security so honestly I wouldn't worry at all!!!!
Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!

hi, i don't know about HSBC telephone banking, i can only speak for the bank im with. when you set up/reset telephone banking you give you account details (sort code, account number, roll number etc) to one consultant who will then transfer you to the security department. at this department the consultant who you speak to has no access to your name, address or account details at all, so you need to remember not to volunteer this information (you would be amazed at the amount of people who do, even after a recorded message advising them not to!!) this consultant then asks you for some personal info, place of birth etc, then you make up your only personal password etc for telephone banking.

you must always remember that you only give the full password when setting up/resetting telephone banking and never when someone could have full access to your account details or even your name. also remember to use something quite random and not something people will know, like you date of birth.

    hope this helps xXx
