Sheffield Park and Ride or Tram stops

Next weekend, Dad and 5 others will be driving down to attend an event at Ponds Forge. they are staying overnight in nearby Chesterfield at the Legacy hotel. As parking is a nightmare (it was last year when they attended the same event), they wondered about doing a park and ride or taking a tram there instead.
Looking at the website for the park and ride, I am having difficulties in working out which one they would use coming from chesterfield. Does anyone know which park and ride they should use, or any other better means of getting to Ponds Forge?
Thanks

Have they thought about usingthe train from Chesterfield. I'm sure Ponds Forge is just opposite the station.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0

chalky_bertie is right, the train from Chesterfield would be by far the easiest. IIRC the Legacy is right by Chesterfield station and it's a 10-20 minutes journey (depending which train you get) and then Ponds Forge is right there when you get off at the other end.
If they really want to park and ride, then Meadowhall is probably the best bet. The official park and ride car parks round there are always full, but you can park in the main one and walk through by M&S as long as you aren't going to leave the car there overnight or anything.
But by the time they've driven to Meadowhall, parked, walked through, caught a tram, it would've been a lot quicker to get the train straight from Chesterfield. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
I think the train is best but if you want to take your car into Sheffield you could drive up the Chesterfield Road rather than the M1 and either park near to town or off the main road a few miles out and get a bus in to town.
We got stuck for hours on the Parkway when there was a Sheffield Hallam Open Day. Later when I took her to Uni and came off the motorway at Sheffield South I was stuck for hours again.0 -
Check the train times. That will be probably the best option.Pondsporge is 5 min walk from Sheffield station.Just opposite the train station.0
