Expedia/Opodo/Last Minute

I want to book a flight and hotel to Washington. Is it better to go through one of the above or do it all direct.

Any advantages/disadvantages?

Do it through/via the websites you mention. Can't go wrong. These people manage to get cheap hotel/air fares. Just have a go, compare your costs going direct and via the likes of expedia/Opodo etc. Use the www.travelsupermarket.com web site to check cheapest flights. I have never found cheaper flight going on BA, AF or KLM sites directly.

Depending when you travel - up to 31st May, you can get an extra £50 off as well as usual 3.5% cashback via quidco for tailor made EXPEDIA bookings, booked b4 31 March.
  • The above expedia offer is worth noting (and may swing it for you) cashback is good, but I tend to find booking hotels & flights separately cheaper if you've got time to try travelaxe or even hotwire for hotels... And if you've got a long stay savings can be considerable (if its a 4 day trip or so the expedia offer is pretty good I'd say).

And as to where flights are cheaper, I've found that 4/5 times the flights alone are cheaper directly from the airline than from Expedia (particularly BA Sales where there is usually extra money off for registered users & AA.com where pricing varies frequently as described elsewhere). Of the 7 US trips we've taken in the past 3 years (or are taking this year), only one was booked through a consolidator, the others were all direct with the airlines as (even accounting for Quidco) that was cheaper...

nowadays i prefer to book directly with the airline to be honest... now the expedia/quidco offer is good, so its worth considering, but normally, i find no advantage to booking through expedia, than booking through the airlines website...

i always find opodo overpriced to be honest... do a check on kayak to find the best price, as it searches many sites, and airlines sites directly..

We used Opodo last year to book Virgin flights to Orlando, saved ourselves over £600 on the price of booking the same flights thru Virgin. I`d use them again.
