Woolworths grrrr

I just bought a Samsung C300 mobile phone from Woolworths - £15 on Orange PAYG.
Cheap and nasty handset but it'll do the job for me as a backup phone. One problem - it has clearly been used before
It has small scratches on it and two phone numbers stored in the phone memory! Strange thing is - the Samsung seal was still present on the box. Someone's obviously opened the box and used it so I don't understand how the seal can still be present....
Taking it back shortly but :mad::mad:

resealed? or opened at another end, like CD's.0

its not woolies fault if someone has managed to undo the security seal , use the phone and put it back withouit it looking like its been opened.0

Are these out for sale on the shopfloor? Usually this type of thing are not.0

They're not on the shop floor, they're kept behind the counter.
I returned it without issue and replaced it with a Nokia 2610 since they didn't have any more C300 in stock. The staff were pretty dumbfounded as to how it could've happened.
Wonder who would go to all of that trouble for a £15 phone?0 -

It totally is TBH - most places would remove the seal when it was returned, check the contents and then reseal it using their own security seal.
I highly doubt that this is an isolated occurrance.0 -
Based on what evidence?
Based on their assumption that a sealed box cannot possibly be tampered with when it clearly can - if people can be bothered resealing a £15 phone and returning it I assume they'll also do the same with a £200 one should they decide it's not for them / they've grabbed the IMEI to revive a stolen handset / etc0 -

tamper proof security seals are VERY easy to remove. They dont normally open the box if the seal is intact so I suspect that peeps are doing it loads , but i doubt they would do it to get the imei number as they are on the boxes any are easy enough to make up etc.0 -
I once bought a Nintendo DS game from Woolworths and when I got home and began playing it I found the game had two existing save games. When I returned it they told me that it was pre-owned and they do sell them yet they did not have anything on the case or the shelf it was on to inform customers of this. This has now changed in my local one and they do have a sign showing which games are pre-owned but at the time I was pretty annoyed.0
