Ni-Mh battery charger advice

Hi
My old 1700mAh batteries are getting on a bit, so it's time to replace them.
If I get some 2700 mAh bateries, will my old charger still do the job? It says on the back Charging Current : AA 1000mA and the instructions don't seem to say it can only be used with certain batteries, but I thought I'd best ask for some advice.
Thanks a lot!
Darren

Hi,
Your charger should be fine as the type of battery remains the same. The 1000mA figure you quote sounds like the current drawn when charging - a figure which doesn't really effect your choice of battery. This doesn't have to match the battery or anything if that is what you are concerned about. You may notice that the new batteries take longer to charge but should be better for MP3 players and digital cameras etc.
If in doubt you can probably google your charger model and get a detailed spec of what batteries are compatible. I tend to pick my rechargeables up from eBay btw.

2700 mAh ones will just take a bit longer to reach full charge0

The new batteries have a bigger capacity, so yes will take longer to chareg up fully. As long as your charger is rated for NIMH batteries then its fine.0

just a note that they might be very slightly phyiscally larger also and may not fit in the appliance!0

Surely not April 1st already?0

Another note: depending on what you use the batteries for - and how often they're used - you may be better off with a set of low self-discharge ones.0
