Bamboo Problem?

I have two bamboo plants, both around 3ft tall, and planted in sheltered positions in the ground. I've noticed over the last few days that all the leaves are rather yellowed and tired-looking and I can't see any signs of fresh green ones. I searched and found another thread about wind-damaged bamboo, but I don't think mine have that problem. Does anyone have any ideas? (Hmm, a photo might help, only just thought of it, sorry!)0

Could be wind or frost damage. I would add a bit of slow release fertiliser and then water well with liquid fertiliser and see if they pick up. Some can take a while to recover.0

Thanks very much, I'll give it a try.0

I think thats spelt right.
Anyway, i have aquired two bits of bamboo! Ive had them for awhile now, but on one of them the stem (im sure that isnt what it is but you know what i mean!) has wrinkled. Its not nice and smooth like the other one. Its got water, thats all i really give it. It lives in our south facing conservatory in a bit of driect sunlight but not alot.
any ideas? I left it outside yesterday, used fresh rain water from our now full water butt and im hoping it might get back to norm but no change yet!
thanks for any advice!0 -
It may take a while. I have lots of different types of bamboo and the one thing i have learned that is common to them all is that they are very tolorant of weather and neglect.
Just water it regularly - i use tap water when the water butts run out, and give it a feed at least fortnightly in the summer. I have some miniature bamboo that did virtually nothing for two years then shot up and tripled its size in a year. Good luck with it.0 -
I love my bamboo! hope it will be ok.
Thanks for passing on the knowlege!0 -

Just as a postscript to the original thread, both plants survived and are growing again strongly. It was indeed a combination of frost damage (seen also on other species planted in the ground) and roots drying out. Re potting, feeding and a good soaking sorted them out.0
