Rotating Video Clip taken on Canon Ixus

I have a couple of short video clips taken on a Canon Ixus 40 camera that I have downloaded and would like to rotate as they were taken in portrait mode and only play back in landscape. Is this possible? I have tried the Canon video impression and Adobe Photoshop programmes but neither allow rotation. Turning the PC/Laptop screen is a solution

but not a very practical one LOL.

Consider http://www.virtualdub.org/ which should allow you to use a 'rotate' filter.

@Gavin57 - Good question.

Windows Movie Maker apparently also has rotate capability.

Format is .AVI

Think it is jpeg quicktime format in a an avi container. I tried to play my canon a70 video and found I had no codec.
