Make a Million Competition

Apologies if this has been asked before (the search function times out when I use it) I have just "won" a golden ticket in a "Win a Million" competition handout in the latest Sainsburys magazine. Obviously you have to phone a premium rate number to find out what prize you have won. This will cost you about £6 - £9 pounds, but all the golden ticket prizes look really good (lowest value prize is a case of vintage wine or a fully inclusive trip to Tunisia) and the rules do not seem to say anything about "subject to availability" etc etc. Anybody know whether this is a valid competion? The company running this is Purely Creative Ltd and they seem to be legit with a helpline etc. I am normally quite wary of competitions like this but this one seems different.

HI there.
If you collect a handful of these envelopes out of the magazines, you will find they are ALL gold !
I once rang one of the premium rate numbers for this company which told me i`d won a cruise. Surprising I got nothing !
Although they now keep sending me the handouts in the post as they have my address and guess what - I win everytime.

If there is any mention of a cruise or a holiday, it's a scam.
Works by them charging you an admin fee (approx £40) for a holiday/cruise (for one person). They then phone you in middle of November and say 'can you fly tomorrow from Aberdeen?' (you live in Devon); if you say 'can't get there', they have fulfilled their obligations. Keep your money and no cruise/holiday.
Ps if you live in Aberdeen, your flight will be from Devon!!0 -
Agreed with what is said here. If the OP wants to ring, I would be willing to bet a sizeable amount that the prize offered is the trip to Tunisia and BFG's theory will be subsequently proven to be correct.0

Thanks all for the advice. Will steer well clear of this one. Thought it sounded too good to be true!0

I once posted off one of these and got sent back some rubbish 'emerald' there was no mention of this on the prize list however - the prizes were in a box shaped like an 'emerald'
Steer clear, big con0 -
Can I report Colin 95 for spamming? All posts are the same."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Why would you report him? There is an article in the Sunday Mirror about it (which amusingly mentions that the winner is the first in 18 YEARS!!!) and there are numerous almost identical threads on this board.

Further, slightly more sceptical info here:

Looking at colin95's post history I can't describe in any other way than spamming. He seems to be rather defensive of the company and posting the exact same post so many times, I'd consider spam no matter what the post contents were."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

How is Colin spamming?
He is replying to a thread with his opinion even if it is the same opinion?0
