As soon as I received it I call the CS and ask them to arrange a DD from my Abbey account for the minimum payment.
The first statement arrived and the date for the DD was clearly stated on the card, I thought nothing of it and I carry on as normal.
The second statement arrived last week and the DD has not gone through, and they also charged me £12.00 for late payment.

You sure about the timings here? If you call the CS people to activate your card, do your balance transfer and set up your direct debit then the timings should all work out okay. There's another tip about asking them to set your statement date to "yesterday" to maximise the time until you get your first statement, but that's something to remember for next time.

If your statement clearly shows the DD has been arranged but they fail to take it then it sounds like a mistake on their part IMO.

Do you mean that your credit rating is frail because of your stoozing activities (which it can appear to be from the lenders point of view because they can't see and frankly aren't interested in your savings)? Or do you mean that it's just not that good in general?

If you're likely to need actual credit, like a remortage or long term loan, in the near future then standard recommendation is to shut down your stoozing activity.
My credit rating is frail because I have hardly used any credit in the past.
My last CC was settled way back at 2001-2002 and is not appear any more on my credit report. So the lenders know hardly anything about my creditworthiness.
I always disliked CC’s as I was (and still do) believe that they are leeches.
Only recently (last October) I applied for the Halifax CC which then was offering 15 months 0% on purchases. I have used that one for slow stoozing.
Regarding mortgage, that is looooong way in the future.
However as my rating is not the best any default will have a negative impact in my future stoozing activities.

I applied for Abbey CC so as to use the 5% cash back on supermarket shopping.
I may use it to SBT after I manage to milk out the max £50 of the cash back, not sure on that one as with only £1000 limit I am not sure if is worth the trouble.
Regarding the statement it is clearly show the DD date.
It must have be a mistake on their part. However in the future I will make habit to do a manual first payment for any card I may acquire as well as setting up a DD.

  • I call Abbey CC customer service and ask to super balance transfer from my current account.
They said that they can not balance transfer to current account and is only can do from CC to CC.
    Are they lying?

No. The SBT option was pulled a couple of months ago, as reported on the stoozing site.

This is what I was told with Abbey Zero however there are other posters who have been given the full 100%. It would appear to be luck of the draw

However I have yet another problem.
When I try to do an online BT from my Abbey to Egg I get a message that I try to transfer over my limit or something.
My Abbey has a £1000 limit and I try to transfer £950 I thought that it would have work ok however is not.
What I do is login online to Abbey and select the lower right option labelled Balance Transfer then I key in the amount £950 and then my egg card number.
I am doing this correctly or will be better if I call Abbey CS and do my BT by phone?
Has anyone had the same experience?
I am newbie to all this and I am not sure if is something wrong with Abbey’s website or I have it all wrong.

I would definitely call Abbey to action the Balance Transfer.

The website is not particularly sophisticated and doesn't allow you to even make payments online, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was just a website glitch.

If you call them you could try for the 100% Balance Transfer initially and if they accept this, then happy days :j . Otherwise ask them for the 95% transfer.
