    Hi Mike,

I'm sorry to read about the grief you're getting.

I've been in a similar predicament, and found my local council to be very helpful, when I went in to make a homelessness application. I too have had mental health difficulties in the past, and because of this, I was classed as a 'priority need'.

Perhaps it would be worth giving your council's housing department a try? If you fulfill their criteria, then the council have a duty of care, in that they will have to find you accommodation, even if that is temporary for the time being, just to keep you safe, warm and well.

I'm assuming you may have already tried this though, as you seem pretty 'on the ball'!

I wish you all the luck in the world. Take Care of yourself,

    Best Wishes,

    Leigh.

Genuine reasons landlords use "no DSS" in their ads:

    - pay a much higher insurance premium if they have DSS tenants,
    - even after agreeing to let, there is no guarantee that DSS will agree with the agreed rent.. too much uncertainty.
    - rent paid in arrears. Anyone who has a choice will prefer it upfront

Another reason landlords prefer not to have DSS tenants is that payments are made direct to tenant in some cases before April and in all cases after April and sometimes the tenant chooses to spend the money on something other than their rent. The HA do not care about this unless the tenant is 8 weeks in arrears.
