I used my paypal account a few days ago to do a purchase, dont really use it, spent about £100. The next day i got a call from paypal to confirm that it was me who carried out this transaction. is this a common procedure for paypal ?

If the amount is large and you don't often use paypal, they do occasionally do checks. Just make sure that you only confirm or deny the questions asked, yes or no should be sufficient. Do not offer any other information especially passwords.0

I received a call from Paypal to confirm a new address and all they asked for was a number which had been given to me on their website. It's not sinister and is fairly common.0

Over the last year, PayPal have been slandered for their 'Lean Security' attitude and as a result, have most likely amended their policy/security measures. This is a good thing, as you get 30 days to file against a fraudulent transaction, so if you were not aware that a fraudster had taken money from your PayPal account within 30 days, you would not be able to get your money back. At least this way, your money is safer.

i don't mind in the slightest - much better than finding out some has been using your account when it's too lateHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

i think they are an awful company, they will limit your account for no good reason, and ask for all sorts of irrelevant information from you. then they dont bother to reply to your emails. i've stopped using paypal, and saved a load of money in fees. nothing wrong with using cheques!0
