Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
10K, but say they had a couple of K PX for their old car, its a big car for their needs in my opinion.
Have PM'd you with more info0 -
That amout on a car is a luxury rather than necessity. They have just blown money that could of been used to support them for a year it does not really seem justified and by your post you seem to feel the same way. I have a friend who sold their house and had to declare evidence that every last pound went on debts owed from before the house sale before they got any help. Somebody who deals with benefits might know the actual answer.0

Afaik there is no definitive answer. Each case is looked at on it's own merits / evidence.
So, they had a car before they sold, they've got a car afterwards. They sold their house to ease the financial burden of mortgage payments, used the money to pay off debts etc?
Given that one of them gets DLA (apparently) then a car may be a necessity, but then again if it includes DLA Mobility component at highest rate, that could have been used to get a car?
There are so many facts that need to be looked at in these sort of cases that I don't think you'll end up with anything more than people's guesswork.0 -
Just wrote an epic and comp went off and lost it all, so will try and keep it short.0

Seems to me they will have problems claiming benefits as most of the stuff is luxury items and not essentials.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
