I've thought about ringing sky & doing the old "too expensive, need to cancle" to get a better deal.
But we have the top package, sky+, multiroom & HDTV.
I think they will just say, certainly where would you like to cut your package down?
We only bought the HD box a few months ago & it was nearly £300, so they would probably know I was trying it on.

Anyone done it on a similar package?
We pay them something like £80 a month (ish).

I reckon they would definitely offer you a sweetener to keep you given that you spend so much with them! I had the full package + multiroom and genuinely wanted to cancel movies as we didnt watch them- they offered me 3 months free movies which I refused, ever since every time i ring they offer me 3 months free something! You should def ring and say you are trying to cut your bills down and want to cancel, you might be surprised with what they come up with.
If I could, I would change to Virgin as their V box is apparently even better than Sky + box!!

We got it for £49 about 6 to 8 weeks ago - loyal customer, asked what they could offer us.

Being as we only got the HD box a few months ago, do we have to wait a full year before we can haggle?

Are we tied in again for a year?

You are probably too late to do much about the HD box but maybe you could haggle a few months half price package to try to recover the money you spent on it.

Just ask to cancel sky because you can't afford it. They always offered me 3 months half price to keep my custom.

Call them and mention the "Freeview" word, you will get a free box from them very quickly.

Can you recommend a friend? If so Sky are currently offering Sky+ to each of you free of charge

I tried a few weeks ago to get a good deal on our package (we had full package), threated to cancel so they said well you could lower your package, that was all they offered.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

I got telephoned a couple of days ago by somebody claiming to be doing a survey on behalf of Sky. After being assured that they weren't trying to sell me something I agreed to answer the questions. The gist was that Sky are now to offer existing customers the same terms as new ones. As I said then "I'll believe it when I see it".
