I have been a loyal customer with sky tv for the last 5 years (paying for a full package). We have decided that we would like to get a sky+ box, and saw it advertised in a local shoppping centre for £50. On ringing sky, we were told that this offer is for new customers only, and it would cost me £209 for the box. SCANDALOUS!

If your contract is up give them a ring & tell them you want to cancel because of this & i bet you get your sky+ box for free.......What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

If you can wait for a while they usually do offers on it. We got ours in November for £99 all in and we've been with them for 6 years
Alternatively ring up and complain like mad about existing customers being second best and threatening to take your custom else where. My Neighbour did this and they offered him Sky + free to keep him with Sky.
I used to do it all the time a few years ago when I was skint, they always offered me 3 months free or whatever rather than lose my custom
Its amazing what you can get if you have the balls to ask for it
It really is worth getting, I wouldn't be without it nowHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -

Would they class DH as a new customer though? Would they not see it was the same address? Don't know if i have the balls to threaten to cancel...."The most wasted of all days is one without laughter" ~ E.E.Cummings :rotfl:0

hi there just tell them you what to cancel as ntl are offering it free (hope ntl is in ur area)and stick to your guns, last year I done it and it went from £150 to 99 to 79 to 59 to 49 to 29 and in the end got it for free, ended up with a pvr2 and after 2 months got that replaced and another 2 weeks got that one replaced with a pvr3,the pvr2s are refur boxs so make sure you ask for a pvr3 ,also found it was better to phone on a tuesday night,(found this out from another forum and it worked for me)good luck0

Thanks Dan, Tuesday nights you say?? Will have to give it a go. Will keep you posted! I usually get all flustered when I phone a company, and trip over myself with all the technical terms they use. In the words of my DH, they could try to sell me China and I'd say 'Ok, how much do I owe you?' :rotfl:"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter" ~ E.E.Cummings :rotfl:0

I got sky+ installed free last year. I phoned them and asked for it for free, told them I would cancel as I felt I was being disadvantaged as an existing customer of 10+ years, where was the reward for loyal custom, why should it only be new customers who get good offers etc...
Try it, you have nothing to lose. Good luck0 -

I used to be the same, now I write everything down before I ring anywhere in case I forget something. Now I sound more confident and that is the key.
Sky are desperate to keep customers, you'll lose nothing by giving it a try.
If you aren't getting anywhere, ask to speak to a supervisor that usually worksHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
I've thought about ringing sky & doing the old "too expensive, need to cancle" to get a better deal.
But we have the top package, sky+, multiroom & HDTV.
I think they will just say, certainly where would you like to cut your package down?
We only bought the HD box a few months ago & it was nearly £300, so they would probably know I was trying it on.
Anyone done it on a similar package?
We pay them something like £80 a month (ish).0
