How long have you been claiming wtc?

I ask because they usually send an NHS exemption card through if you are entitled.

If you have only recently claimed then it may take a while to arrive, I guess.

I believe you have to earn less than around £14000 - I'm sure someone else will know the full facts.
  • Your earnings need to be les than £15,050 and be receiving the disabled element of WTC.

thx guys for the replies, it has been nearly 1 year since i have been claiming WTC, and yes i earn well under £14,000 . so does that mean i can get help towardss health costs?

Looks like you need to be receiving the disabled element.

I'm assuming you have no dependents?
  • If you have any dependant children or receiving the disability element you may be able to claim exemption.

Try going via this link to find out if you can claim help towards costs through the NHS Low Income Scheme:

This is the thread I've used ... which is a variation on the above but is related to the WTC theme!

Call the helpline, off the top of my head i think you need to have an income of £15050 and claiming either WTC&CTC, CTC only or WTC&disability if you call they will be able to check that for sure. It can take up to 8 weeks from the date on the award notice that shows you are entitled for the card to arrive.

I started work last November on considerably more than £15000, i have 3 children and OH. We get CTC/WTC and NHS exemption until Jun '08. No disabilities in family but did come off JSA.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.
  • Your award is calculated on your previous year income so I will assume your previous year (2006/07) income was less than the £15050 and that is why you have a card which expires in June 08. Your card will not be renewed if your income is too high this year. If you need any treatment done get it done ASAP!
