PPI on creditcards

I lost my job about 6mth ago i had ppi on my credit card.I could not make my payments which incuded my ppi payments. I wanted to make a claim for being unemployed and the credit card company said i could not because i did not keep up my payments does anyone know if this is correct

    Depends on when you stopped making payment, if it was before you lost your job then they probably wont pay out as you were no longer paying the premiums to cover you. If you stopped paying after you became unemployed and can prove the date you stopped working then you should be able to claim.

    Of course, it also all depends on how you came to be unemployed

    How long had you been working there? Do you still have the insurance details for this PPI - the certificate or whatever it is they sent you when you took it out? Many, if not all, credit card companies provide this PPI through a 3rd party, find out which insurers you were actually paying and call them.

    Unfortunately because you stopped making payments, I would be doubtful that they would pay out.

    However, it is worth pushing them - you could argue that you were making the payments at the time you lost your job and therefore you were covered. It all depends how tight the Terms and Conditions are, but if you don't ask you don't get. I'd try and make a claim and see how you get on. Good Luck.
