Livid - CCLondon.com

Argh....here to vent, naturally.

Around 2 weeks ago after a drive through London, my mum asked me to pop onto the CCLondon website to pay that day's congestion card. All cool, the confirmation screen popped up to say that the payment had been accepted or confirmed.

Forgot all about it until today. We got a letter in the post telling us since we hadn't paid the days congestion card we are now subject to a £60 fine!!!!! We have no proof of the payment, no receipt, and low and behold...the money hasn't been taken. I'm so frustrated I could cry. I would never have closed the window until I got a confirmation of payment so it's beyond me as to why the payment hasn't gone through and now we're issues with this balls of a fine :(

  • Have you tried looking at your history for the transaction? You may be able to retrieve the page.

I use the site a lot for work and it can be temperamental; I always print off the receipt and have a copy emailed to me too (belt and braces girl me! lol)

    Good luck

Did you sign up to the CC web page when you paid, as wouldn't that give you an email confirmation?

Try calling them (0845 900 1234) and see what they say!!

There's some info on their web page on contesting the charge:

    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/congestioncharging/6750.aspx
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If you contest the charge, they will simply write back telling you that if you did not receive a confirmation number and haven't noted it then you are liable for the penalty.

I had worse than this a few weeks back. I returned from London and I used the TfL website to pay my congestion charge for that day. I ran through the whole process which included entering my credit card details and then verifying them with my bank. I then received a random error message from the website.

Assuming it hadn't processed, I then went back to the starting screen, entered my registration again and left the date as ‘today’. The website informed me that a charge had been logged for my registration and informed me I needed to change the date to make a payment.

I sent an email immediately to TfL to confirm that I had indeed paid the charge and asked for a receipt of payment. Two days later, I received a message back informing me that there was no payment showing...

Since then, they've sent me a PCN, which I contested and they sent me back a five page semi-automated reply telling me that they have no recorded faults and it is my fault! Apparantly I could have paid the next day despite tham taking two days to reply to my original email. I've replied again and I am fully prepared to take it to the appeals service and then on again to County Court. It's totally unfair and TfL have to gall to state in their letter that the penalty charge is legal. It simply can't be.

Push it as far as you can, keep witih all time limits, but there aren't any human beings there :wall: Call them and there's no one able to make a decision, you have to write; write and you get an automated reply. There is simply no-one there able to apply common snese or even read a letter properly. It's absolutely shocking. There is little information for non-Londoners available - why they can't even put a telephone number on the signs as you drive in, I don't know. Revenue at any cost to the consumer

Look at the parking forum on www.pepipoo.com. There is a current thread on there about this exact problem. Numerous people are complaining about it happening to them.

One of my regular jobs is 1/3 of a mile inside the zone - every time I pay the dreaded charge I reckon that I must spend about 20 minutes online checking and double checking every step of the process.

I hate it when their site hangs and I'm not sure if the process is completed.

Our labour rate is £65.00 per hour - What are the chances of Tfl paying us to coax their system into actually doing what it's supposed to do!
