Hi there!
Can anyone tell me of a site that shows how in install a washine MAchine? I have moved house and the kitchen I have already has the hot and cold water pipes for the washer but when I connect them up and turn the little valves on they are leaking. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help?

What are leaking? Could it be that the rubber washers in the flexible hose ends (where the threads are) are now missing? If so, a new set of hoses are cheap - around £1.50 each from the redoubtable Screwfix company.
See this site: http://www.diynot.com/pages/pl/pl016.php"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0 -
if the water is just leaking from round where the hoeses screw in then all you need is some plumbers tape ,Wrap a couple of turns of PTFE (plumbers) tape around the threads then tighten the hoses back on, should clear the problem
looks like this

as you can see it's really cheap !!
if it's the valves themselves then you are then looking at turning the water off before replacingEx forum ambassador

I think crossleydd42 is right in thinking that you have lost a rubber washer when moving - black one in this picture

P.S. Congradulations - you found this yourself while I was looking for a picture :T0 -
Thx grumbler, for putting in the Screwfix link which I stupidly forgot to do!
Glad you sorted the problem out (and cheaply), Cheddar. What a cheese!"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0 -

Hurrah! Have got some washers for 20p and they have done the trick. I know it might seem simple to some but I am clueless with washers! Has saved me a lot of money!!!0
