What are your thoughts regarding wedding insurance? Is it necessary?
I automatically thought I would arrange this but after a conversation with my boyfriend now I'm not sure.
All comments are appreciated!
Many thanks

We took it out, mainly because the price of the insurance is minimal compared to what we might lose if something drastic happened. I know the chances are pretty slim but we're planning on spending thousands of pounds on one day and it's not something we've ever done before or plan to do again....A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

hello,
I have had a drama with insurance recently...I went up to the loft to have a root around for some stuff to put on ebay to see if i could raise some money for my dress. Anyway other half popped up to say hello, then promptly fell through the loft via the bedroom ceiling in the only 6" gap that wasnt boarded out!! Cue some effin and jeffin from OH and a bruise the size of a pizza on his thigh (thankfully missing the crown jewel area!!) and it turns out we are not covered for "accidental damage" we were last year, not this year!!! groovy..
So plastering has cost £500 i made £100 on ebay and am still nowhere near the dress fund..
Anyway having had that little drama i went to E and L insurance and got wedding cover for £26
A small price to pay in view of any other dramas....
Oh and i took some fab photos of his bruises, all our friends call him frank spencer now..
Good Luck0 -
Not wanting to worry you but I've heard not-so-good things about E&L on some other wedding forums.
Some other that came with recommendations have been
Confetti https://www.confetti.co.uk/article/secureView/7414-7912.do
Debenhams http://www.debenhamsweddings.com/site_services/article_summary.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=4462585
GreenBee (John Lewis's insurance arm) http://www.greenbee.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10001&categoryId=18&langId=-1&parentCategoryId=3
And M&S (although apparently Ecclesiastical provide their insurance and it's cheaper if you go with them direct!) http://www.ecclesiastical.com/ourproducts/insurance/weddinginsurance/index.aspx
Am currently looking around at some myself but need to figure out where I'm holding the reception first!
I also thought I wouldn't bother but when I looked at the cost (around £50) it really was a drop in the ocean compared to the whole cost, and it would give me that extra bit of peace of mind in case anything went wrong. Definately worth it I think, but (as with anything!) I'd always make sure you read the small print and check you're covered for what you think you are....!0 -
Im currently looking into wedding insurance too. We are getting married in 2010 and are just about to book the venue and pay the deposit, do we getting wedding insurance before we do this does anyone know?:heart2::heart2::heart2: I LOVE MY BEAGLE! :heart2::heart2::heart2:0

I think it depends who you get insurance with. E&L insurance last for 2 years from the date you take out the insurance for example, other companies might have similar time frames. Might be worth ringing a few companies and seeing.

Geminibabe, you can take it out at anytime, but you need to check that the one you go with covers for weddings so far in advance. Some cover for weddings happening within 1 year, some 2 years.0

We took it out but just because our reception was at a privately owned county house and if it had gone bust there was no national chain to pay our £1k deposit to.
3 months before the wedding my Dad had a heart attack (he is ok now) but if it had of been closer to the day I would have wanted to postpone and the insurance would have helped us do that.
It's only about £55 which is a tiny fraction of what we send on our big day so I thought it was worth it.It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0 -
Marks and spencers wedding insurance is more expensive than E&L as it starts at around £60, but maybe you would have more peace of mind getting it from them, also you can 10500 points if you get it through cashinco (thats £10.50 isnt it?)Christmas 2010: cashback £124.50, Tesco clubcard points: 4220, Nectar points: 1037, Dooyoo miles: 15770, Harrispoll: 2490
