Ebay and Nochex?

As an Ebay virgin (I have placed my first bid today!!) I am interested in selling a few things too.

Having read the discussions over Paypal - can anyone comment about Nochex?

How do they compare with Paypal.

Are they Ebay'able?

u can accept nochex on ebay just mention u accept it in your auction, trouble is most of your buyers wont have nochex accounts and will insist on using paypal,i used to offer it as a payment method but it hardly got used so didnt bother offering it after a while.nochex fees are less but you dont get the protection offered by paypal(some people may look upon this as a good thing as this has caused some problems:eek: )

I used to offer nochex as an payment option on ebay but I think it was only ever used twice in several years. That made it more expensive than paypal as I then had to pay the additional 25p to withdraw the nochex payment as it was below £50 on both occasions.

    Buyers tend to prefer paypal.

Buyers do prefer Paypal, but they can be pursuaded to use Nochex if you make it easy for them. Send them a Nochex invoice along with the ebay invoice and some will use it :D

Problem is that now Ebay owns PayPal they are promoting it so heavily, Nochex doesn't have a chance.

I've been offering Nochex (along with PayPal) for years now, but not one buyer has opted for a Nochex payment.

  • I bought a computer online from a company (nothing to do with eBay) and they insisted on Nochex payment so I now have an account with Nochex.

The computer was exactly what I wanted for the price so I was happy to use Nochex.

I wondered if I only offered Nochex and not Paypal whether potential buyer would be put off - I wasn't. I suppose it boils down to how much you want the item.

I agree with what bleugh says. As a buyer I wouldn't use anything but paypal, but as a seller I did try to push nochex with no success, and I still push bank transfers with no success. My buyers are like me and will only use paypal.

I do still have my nochex account and I've noticed they have some quite stringent limits now, a max of £100 a day for instance unless you pay to register your bank details with them. It was never a problem for me as I never sold more than about £20 of stuff through it, but it might be a hinderance to bigger sellers who have a good intake.
