Maybe we should hang onto them, they might be "shabby chic" in in the futureHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0

I refill mine too, I try to use fresh herbs for the ones I use a lot and I buy the packs of other herbs from Aldi much more cost effective than the little bitty amount you get from Shwartz. I did throw away some sardines last week that were best before sometime in 1992 (funny because we had a new kitchen in 2005 ( Or was it 2004?) and I threw away all the old stuff LOL)0

Yup all of Mums have the beige lid. Ah well......(but they are generally refilled!)0

I'm going to be in trouble in the future, then. I've just put all my Indian spices in my shiny new "masala dabba".
PS. I'd love to be able to afford Schwartz herbs and spices. ASDA own brand for me.
But, for those of you who can, "May the Schwartz be with you".
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I have a cayenne pepper here that says best before 19 06 09 that has a brownish lid. Maybe it's dark orange...
Actually, the light in here is rubbish. It could be pink for all I know.

Are you sure it's not 19 06 99 Gingham?
I'm still using some mixed spice that was BBE Mar 2003.
I just keep using a bit more than the recipe suggests, but it's a bit like the magic porridge pot.....it never runs out.

It occurs to me that this is a genius ploy by schwartz to get us talking about their product.
And on an ad free site as well.
Hats off to them. LOLMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

I've just seen an advert, if your Shwartz spices have a beige lid, it means that they are at least seven years old :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I've checked and luckily I don't have any that are older than my children.
I buy Tesco own brand ones anyway so green lids here.

The only schwartz things i have are cinammon sticks - do they really go off? Otherwise i'm safe with own brands and a bay leaf refill thats in cardboard and green. Unless there's a warning out about their refill packs - should probably be pink with blue spots or something.April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530
