in Credit cards
I have an Egg card whose 0% BT expires on 1 Sept. I have just managed to transfer 3k off it onto a new RBS card. I don't yet know my RBS limit (they have already BT'd 5200 off 2 cards for me
)
I wanted to do another 3k transfer from Egg to my bank before quickly BT'ing it to another card - which i have yet to apply for (Virgin?).
Can this all be done before 1 Sept or am I being optimistic?
Hope this makes sense !

Hi,
Well, there is certainly no guarantee that you can do it in that short a space of time (6 weeks is the recommended 'plan ahead' time). I applied for a Virgin card 2 weeks ago, was accepted 1 week ago but have not yet received the card - so you will be pushing your luck with Virgin. IF took about 3 weeks in total. Egg were the quickest at around 10 days in total - but that's obviously no good for you
Two possible options:
1) Wait until you have a new card in place and then use the Egg card for the SBT and accept a few days interest before the BT to the other card. This assumes that the amount and duration of the 0% offer will more than offset your costs and will actually make you a profit.
2) Wait for the Virgin card to come through and then use that for the SBT.«««¤ Richie ¤»»»0 -
Thanks for the advice Ritchie
So, do Virgin allow me to pay myself a cheque into the bank (SBT) without a fee?0 -
Yes, you can do a SBT without Virgin charging a fee0

Yes you can, of course, but not by using a cheque as the OP asked. It has to be done as a balance transfer.
