MSN takeover

Today, I had an opportunity to update MSN (or windows live, whichever you prefer to call it), and now, when I switch on the computer, MSN arrives before my home page which incidentally is THIS one, MSE.

How can I stop this happening. I only want MSN when I want it

Open MSN click on > Tools > Options > General > Untick box labelled 'Automatically Run Windows Live Messenger when I log on to Windows'

    P.S. Don't forget to 'Apply'

I just did the same today and you need to untick the boxes to prevent that happening - there are 3 of them on one page.

Thanks, that was irritating. You know a few weeks ago, after a period of sluggish operating, an IT guy did a sort out to my machine and ever since it has run like a dream. He told me whilst it's running well, don't fiddle with controls, leave well alone.

About a fortnight ago, I read elsewhere that it is possible to change the way a computer runs etc, simply by clicking on something. I foolishly did and ever since, it has been slow on site that previously gave no trouble. I now have to go and find that recommendation so that I can refer to it and try to undo etc. I think it was on web user.

But, would I be right in thinking that somehow you can turn the system back to how it was running at a given time, ie 1 month/2 months ago?

Thanks again. Well I've done that (and made a note for future use) and now I'm off to see if I can find any noticeable difference, which clearly I should. Will this apply to both IE & FF?
