WireLess AOL Broadband

A friend asked if I could set up his wireless broadband for him. Thats the easy Bit :rolleyes:
1. He is on AOL can you use a Net Gear router or do you have to use one AOL provides?
2. Does he need a different user name as in some forums it says you do?
3. Do you need AOL software installed on the laptop he will being using wireless connection on?
Please help im going mad nothing seems to work :mad:

1) You can use any router with AOL as far as I'm aware.
2) I've had customers call before having been "cut off" from AOL because they changed their password within AOL, and of course then the password on the Router was invalid. So I would advise one account for the Router and one for the Software.
3) You don't need the software to be able to get online, you only need it to access your AOL emails etc.

Just a quick point you don't need the aol software to access your emails or go on live help etc. Everything is accessible from their homepage.0

Hi i use a netgear router with my aol and i dont use a different user name and i have installed the aol software on my laptop as i prefer to use aol rather than I.E0
