can i claim cares allowance?

im on the sick for work, so i only get £75 a week pay, i get high rate dla for my son. Could i claim for cares allowance now that i dont earn over £95 a week?
savings for 2012.. New year new me.. Going to save save save... and not spend spend spend. :rotfl:

    I assume you are on SSP, I dont think you can claim Carers Allowance at the same time, hopefully someone can confirm this.

    I can find no reason why CA cannot be claimed whilst SSP is in payment as SSP is not a 'benefit', but a wage replacement at £72.55pw. Someone earning only £72.55pw could claim CA.

    When your SSP ends at 28 weeks and then you claim IB from week 29, CA will then stop being paid, but you would still have 'underlying entitlement' to CA.
