Which account is right for me ?.

Hi Everyone and Happy Easter !,
I am sorry if this is a draft question but I have 2 bank accounts, one from Lloyds and one from the Clydesdale bank, and I want to close one down and only use the one as my main account with all my credits and direct debits etc, but I am confused (Not hard) as each has its good any bad points, so I am looking for a bit of advice........

Lloyds (Cheque Account)
3-in-1 £100 cheque card/Visa Debit card/Cashpoint card - can be used everywhere I think, I also have a cheque book on this account and internet banking, pays interest (Not much !), but local branch to pay in is about 1 mile away.

Clydesdale (Readycash - Basic Bank Account)
2-in-1 cash card and Maestro debit card (Not solo) - can be used everywhere I have found so far, no cheque book, but do have internet banking, does not pay interest, local branch is again about 1 mile away, but I can use any Post Office to pay in instantly.

The only avantage I can see with clydesdale is being able to pay in a the local PO, but I would lose the cheque book.

I would be grateful for any thoughts.

Thanks.

I'd pick Lloyds over Clydesdale anytime, especially since it's a full bank account.

I don't see the point in closing either - you can keep accounts open with very little in them, providing you pass the odd transaction through them every now and again.
Since both have internet access, it is relatively painless to make transfers between accounts, should you need to do so. This could give you access to more money through the ATMs at night, in an emergency.

I can understand the wish to only use one of them as your main account, and on the basis that the Lloyds one pays interest, I would plump for that. (There might of course be a better-paying current account elsewhere that you haven't yet considered.)

My biggest surprise though on reading your post is that you seem to regard a mile as a long way away ... ;)
Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.

I would be inclined to agree with meltdown. Lloyds is probably better than Clydesdale, but i think you could probably do better.

Lloyds TSB also allow you to use the post office to pay/take money. :D Keep Lloyds.
