didnt cancel home ins and now have a bill?

hi everyone
i have been stupid and assumed my home ins with esure would natually be cancelled at the end of the yr. i took another policy out and now esure want to charge me £41 for the last 3 months...is there any way out of this

    Did they tell you that your policy would automatically be renewed unless you told them otherwise?

    cant remember if they did or not but dont remember anything to say that - i have got rid of the paperwork now and am kicking myself.
    was just wondering if to call and say i cancelled by phone in jan even though i didnt???

    Presumably you have paid Esure by DD? If so renewal is normally automatic unless you tell them otherwise.

    If you paid annually by credit card it is not automatically renewed.

    It can be automatically renewed by credit or debit card if the insurer obtained continuous payment authority when the policy was incepted.

    What I meant was that under Esure's terms & conditions DD payments may be automtically renewed. Credit card payments never have been automatically renewed with Esure unlike some other companies.

    Oh dear, that is lesson learn't the hard way :o all insurance - car & house has to be canceled in writing if not being renewed.
    If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
