Hi there, I've never changed provider before, been a Scottish Power customer forever for both my gas and electricity.
They have this week decided to charge me £40 per month more on my DD and I would like to move.
Can anyone advise me please on whether it's worthwile actually moving, or if it's much of a muchness. I don't want to move purely because someone's offering cashback but more if it's going to actually cost less.
Thanks in advance.

I'd do a search on one of the gas/elec comparison sites, put in your actual usage, rather than price etc, and see the results, if the difference is minimal, stick with Scottish Power, if it's huge, make sure you've put in correct figures, and then swap.0

Are you been in debt with SP. Usually they only increase or decrease your DD payments if your a lot in debt or in credit
I always tell them my monthly usage same with water so I dont get a huge debt or credit0 -
Thanks for the responses.
No, I'm not in arrears. They set the direct debit once a year and I pay it. Maybe I've genuinely been using more than I was last year. Two years ago they put my direct debit up by a whopping £70 and said I was underpaying (the amount they had set) so I persevered.
I shall go to Uswitch or something and see what's what. I just didn't want to move if the new provider was going to put the prices up.

We had our DD lowered last Sep from £70 to £65 even though we want a lot in credit we just about use combined fuel each month, so it can work the other way too.
I do tend to tell them of meter readings each month so as not to get too much in credit or debt0
