Another one thats going to reduce our BT landline cost by 50% - not WOULD we like them to reduce it!!

Had 5 calls from them today, fom outside UK, it appears. We're xdirectory & elected for no cold calls.

http://www.fizztelecom.com

Looks all as respectable as any other, but vague tarriff & info, so doesn't look the way to go!!

Just their marketing, will no doubt catch some unwary folk out!

Calls to UK 01/02 numbers - 2.99p/minute PLUS VAT - at all times!

    No thanks!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Does anybody have any information about Fizz Telecom
    are they reliable etc
    Thanks :

As Heinz pointed out in the post which has been merged to be immediately above yours, Fizz charge 2.99p/minute AT ALL TIMES for calls to UK 01/02 numbers!

So, 0.1p/minute cheaper than BT weekdays - but at least BT don't make a per minute charge evenings and weekends (BT's 'the hour plan' - which most of us are on now - means a 5.5p per call charge for up to an hour evenings and weekends).
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").
  • As I work from home I have been targeted by Fizz Telecom promising to reduce my telephone charges and line rental by 50% with no catches - thought this can't be true and was suspicious when the caller asked for my bank details - which I refused - looking into this further the Fizz Telecom.Com website gives its terms and conditions - lo and behold its a 60 month contract and loads of unfair fees and charges - BEWARE IF YOUR TARGETTED - !!!!!! TURPIN IS ALIVE AND FIZZING

I always use the following on the people in supermarkets trying to get me to sign up for their telephone service:

"You say you would cut my costs my 50%. How much would you charge me if I lived in Exeter and called a Glasgow number for 90 minutes at 11 am on a Wednesday?

At this point, the representative fumbles to see if he remembered to pack his pocket calculator this morning and eventually comes up with the cost of such a call, "£2.25."

Right, at the moment, that call would cost me 2p. Can you explain to me how £2.25 is 50% less than 2p?"

I was called by this company today - still offering free line rental for 5 years, only paying for calls. Are they still to be avoided, or have they improved over the intervening years?

hey my mum foolishly went ahead with Fizz telecoms, and has entered into a 60 month contract with them, if she agreed for this not knowing of the length of the contract, is there any way of cancelling the contract without the fee, she only agreed verbally over the phone, and was sold on the free line rental, not told of the length and assuming she wouldnt be serving a life sentence with them. muchos gracias for any help .

ps she took the contract out a few months back and didnt read the T's&C's.
