I think i mus thave the smallest kitchen in the world

It is exactly 83 inches across by 87 inches (it makes a little square). Plus i inconveniently have the combi boiler box thing wall mounted half way up a wall so blocks it off. I dont have a pantry - my fridge freezer has to sit in my living room behind a door. I have 5 low cupboards, 2 under sink with cleaning stuff in. One cupboard for things for cleaning pets with. one full of dog food and one with obligitory carp in it - phone boxes, chrismtassy bits left over (ie crackers/biscuits etc). Then 4 wall mounted cupboards - 2 with plates/cups/bowls/mugs etc. 2 with tins, pasta. On top of said wall mounted cupboards are boxed cereals, baking tins, mixing bowls etc.

I have 2 and a bit work tops. The main worktop currently houses my toaster, kettle, george foreman, 3 big 3ltrs of juice, 2 packs of current hot cross buns and a loaf of bread. The other worktop is tiny and houses my microwave and slow cooker, and is also the side for dirty dishes as its next to the sink. The odd bit of side board has a chopping board, cooking utensil holder (potato masher/wooden spoons/ladle etc). If i can figure out how to post a picture i will show you.

Lol, I couldnt actually get in my kitchen to get a good picture so you can see it through the door instead! Thats how small my kitchen it! (now need to wait for bf to ge thome to help me download it off his fancy camera - dont want to risk deleting all the other pictures!

lol - not compared to some kitchens!! Some fo the kitchens in teh kitchen thread oin here i could live in quite happily

My kitchen is one of those horribly placed ones tht you can either have the oven or washing machine open, not both at once.

Plus you can only comfortably fit one in it!
    Time to find me again

Thank you so much for all the contributions. It has really helped me rethink. Sadly my kitchen ceiling is quite weak after a leaking bathroom, so putting anything up there is not an option. I already use the space on top of the units for items like tims (for when I am baking) and tin foil, cling film etc.

I could move the glasses out of the kitchen. I have a cupboard in the dinning room with 'extra' glasses and mugs in case I have lots of people round. I don't have a big house, so don't tend to have too many people at once anyway. I shall put the things from the 'extras' cupboard in the loft. It is very accessible with a loft ladder, full flooring and lighting. I also have a cupboard with wine in the dinning room. This could go to the loft too and I could just keep a little down. I also have plastic picnic stuff in the kitchen. I tend to use these plates and bowls a fair bit in the summer, but they could go in the unit I keep the normal plates when I move all the extra mugs out.

I am begining to feel much more positive, thanks. I had made a good start by buying plastic baskets and tidying things like nuts and dried fruit into them.

I will have a look at lakeland for ideas too.

    Thank you all :):)

Debt_Free_Chick - I didn't realise how expensive the pan rack I have here was!!! I have that one. The hooks are really handy as they turn around in the rack, hard to explain but helps.

Understand what people mean when they are on about kitchens that aren't really designed to cook in, mines a pain. Only one cupboard has spaces tall enough for bottles of oil/large tubs etc.
One day I might be more organised...........

I keep my tinned fruit, meat tuna on the top shelf of my fridge freezer. I also keep things like horseradish sauce, cranberry, tartre sauce mustard on the same shelf. We manage fine with the rest of the stuff on the other shelves and in the salad and veg drawers.....it does help with the curboard space in the kitchen. As we have a laundry room we do not have a washer, nor is there any room for a dish washer, much as I would love one..........

My kitchen is small too...we keep our fridge is in our pantry and our freezer is in the dining room. When DH and I are in there together we constantly bump into each other!

Everything has a place (in the cupboard or on the top of cupboard) and nothing is bought unless it replaces something already there. I would love a slow cooker but i already have my well used breadmaker and i don't have enough space for both.

I agree that if you leave 1 or 2 things out then a small kitchen looks a mess!

I'm reading this thread with interest, as I also have a tiny kitchen (5½ feet wide, by about 9½ feet long)
We've got a fridge, but no freezer to speak of, just a tiny 2-star freezer compartment at the top of the fridge) which makes batch-cooking a bit more difficult, so if I cook more than we need we tend to have the same meal 2 days running.
It's also true about only keeping the bare mimimum of appliances out on the worktop, - any more than this and it starts to look horribly cluttered!

Hi all-a fab thread which I can relate too.
I am also a tiny kitchen owner. So tiny that at present I do not have a cooker or a fridge or washing machine.I only moved in 5 months ago,I have a small sink with cupboard space underneath and 1 pull out drawer right underneath my kitchen window, behind me is a quarter of a worktop where I have stashed my microwave and next to that is half a work surface with space for my future cooker.I only have 1 kitchen cupboard which is full of easter eggs and crisps at the moment.I have a slow cooker, blender, 2 toasters, a george foreman and a kettle which I keep on top and around the limited space that I have.I have 3 takeaways a petrol station and a huge grocery shop round the corner though so I won't starve if I decide not to enter the kitchen at all.I do not own any baking utensils or saucepans(no point without a cooker) and have only bought 1 set of breakfast crockery and a dinner set for 4, also have a huge stash of paper plates and plastic cutlery which is used for family and friends as I hate washing up.I have actually ordered a new cooker and a fridge but am trying to work out where they will go-have to remove my only cupboard to make space for a fridge freezer. There are only 2 plus points to the tiny kitchen-1 I have a fairly big garden so will be able to grow or try to grow my own veggies and 2 I am so petite myself that at least another person can move around me in the kitchen comfortably.(I usually squeeze into the cooker space when Oh washes up)
    Love can tame the wildest

before I bought this house I lived in a flat with a tiny kitchen, I had 3 cupboards and 1 set of drawers, I took the plinths of the underneath of the cupboards and stored baking tins and spare tins of food under the cupboards, as the plinths/kickboards just pushed on it was really easy to get things out when I needed them.

The bread machine food processor and slow cooker etc used to live in the bottom of the built in wardrobe
Bread used to live in the micrrwave and pyrex bowls used to live inside the cooker both big empty spaces when they are not being used :)
