Property Surveyors?? Full Building Survey??

Hi Guys Looking for some assistance out there.. we are buying a Property and are wanting a full building survey done as its an older property with an extension.
We are in Northamptonshire can any one recommend anyone? thats cheap but does a good job...
Also we are porting are morgage over to the new property.. would we have to pay for there standard survey and then the one we want?

check to see whether the mortgage company offer a free val then call the surveyor and uograde. i got a full survey for 3500

full surveys tend to be very expensive - almost double the cost of other surveys. the other option is a "homebuyers report".
if you have a builder friend, why cant you ask them along to view the extension if you are worried about it? check for cracks, windows that dont reflect as you expect, wonky floors, tilting doorframes, any damp or timber treatment guarantees. if the extension is new check for planning permission and building regulations and ask about guarantees and maybe who carried out the work; then check that company out.
if the extension was before the current owners, maybe ask for a copy of their survey when they purchased the property. personally, i believe it is a document retained for many years.
