Gas Usage query

Hi,

Our last 2 quarterly Gas bills have shown us using 81 units a day on average, i don't know if this the normal/typical use people get, we live a detached 4 bed house, 4 of us all together, and use gas for heating and cooking. We do heat water up alot-maybe 3hrs a day, but hardly use the central heating, in winter was around 2-3hrs a day max, our boiler is also a good 30 years old, so probably needs replacing.
What you think? Average bills?

Thanks

I presume you do not really mean 81 units a day but 81kwh per day. Your meter measures in units but that figure is then converted to Kwh on your bill.
Now to the question, I have a 3 bed bungalow, heating on all day in winter with a condensing boiler, have a gas hob only, and my winter usage is about 600 kwh per week. That means your figure of 567kwh per week is quite good in my opinion.
The yearly average is about 20000kwh used but this obviously includes the lower summer usage.
And don't forget winter is still here, it's snowing at the moment!!

    Thanks.

It must be the extortionate gas prices that are giving the quite huge bills every quarterly.
