Travel Insurance + Existing aliments

We were finding it difficult to find travel insurance that woukld cover us for existing aliements at a reasonable costs.

Someone told us about Barclays(by Phone), and was very competative.

https://www.allcleartravel.co.uk do travel insurance for medical conditions, dont know if the price is any good, but they will cover most things. Columbus direct do this, but you have to call them: 0800 083 9503.

I would say that it is not worth trying to buy cover over the internet if you have existing ailments. By all means get quotes that way, but you'll need to make a call to either declare and try to have covered, or declare and agree not to have covered, those ailments you're aware of or are currently being treated for!

Recently when my son was going away I decided to get him insurance cover without without cancellation, because I was going into hospital for brain surgery the day before he was due to leave. I wasn't bothered about the cost of his ticket, which was his major expense, just wanted him to be covered if he broke his leg or fell under a bus in France. If I'd wanted cancellation cover, I felt I'd got to phone and tell the company I was going to be in hospital, even though I didn't see us hauling him back if it all went pear-shaped.

Internet cover is great for absolutely bog standard quotes, but I find I can ask for a decreasing number of bog standard quotes! Life's too complicated!
