2 Free Tickets for Afrika Afrika @ O2 Arena - Part 2

Hi, I know you are keen to take the 3 children to see the show, as they have little fun in their lives, but I think it may be very hard to get tickets for a weekend now. Have you thought about taking them to the cinema? If they are learning English as a second language it may be educational. Vue do a kids am club with tickets £1.50 each and adults go free-add popcorn and a ice creams and most kids would find that a real treat. Vue even have a cinema in the 02 itself if you want to go there. Link http://www.myvue.com/kidsam/ stardust this weekend, next week the game plan, daddy day camp, horton hears a who, Spiderwick chronicles. It would also work out a lot cheaper than purchasing an extra ticket/s for the show and they would enjoy it just as much. Odeon also do a kids am club http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/kids/ £2.50 and adults free-Mr Magorium this week. You could also look out for free kids tickets to west end shows
15-29 August when they go on sale in July. Website http://www.kidsweek.co.uk/ to register for their newsletter to receive info first.
Thank you for taking the trouble to post this reply, and sadly I fear you are right (about the likelihood of me getting tickets - I keep applying myself, and so does DH, but we are having no luck at all).
We do take the 3 kids to the cinema, making use of the kids clubs you suggested, and yes, they do really enjoy it, and it's helping their language aquisition. And I will try your suggestion for theatre tickets, thanks for that.
But I would so like to take them to see this show - it reflects their own culture, it does not require any understanding of the English language, and having seen it myself already, I just know that it would blow them away!
I'm just hoping and praying that either we get some tickets, or some very kind MSE will be able to help. People on this site are very kind, I find.
Thanks again,
SusieLou :A0 -
Hi SusieLou,
I wonder if it might be worth your while emailing the Afrika Afrika people directly and explaining that you would like compimentary tickets for 3 disadvantaged children (explaining their circumstances), who would really benefit from seeing the show as it reflects their own culture. If they have any available I am sure they would consider you (I would!!)
Good luck.0 -
Has anyone received tickets for Sat 3rd yet? Specifically the 8pm show, but would be interested if notification for the earlier show has come through either.
Also, does anyone know when you are normally notified for weekend shows.0 -
There have been no posts for the last few weekends saying anyone has got tickets. I think the show may be selling well at weekends now and few if any complimentary tickets available now. They seem to have advertised a lot more recently (bill boards in my area) and I expect with all the free tickets given-word has spread on what a great show it is. I checked todays performance on ticketmaster and they seem to have so many offer boxes on the site for deals, Evening Standard, Daily Express, Daily Mail, Avis, friends Of Afrika, partners deal. They probably have had a lot of newspaper coverage with these deals. It moves to Manchester at the end of this month-so maybe people are taking a last minute opportunity to see the show in the South. The tmeal deal is still available for selected dates (Sundays only at weekend) on this link http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/promo/js8r9y?brand=tmdeal Put tmdeal in ticketmaster partner box and tickets start from £9.50.0

Hi all just registered tonite. Suzielou, if you are reading this i have applied for 2 tickets(thats the standard amount they let you have) for this sunday 11th may at 11am. Thanks to who put that link on! i dont need the tickets myself, i did it for you, as i will be at the All About Dogs show in Brentwood this sunday. I was thinking that maybe if you and some of your friends could also apply for these tickets you may have enough to take your three young neighbours. If all goes well some pics would be good! If Suzielou does not need these tickets (if i get them!) then i can always pass them onto anyone else who might want them. I have already got tickets for the show for a few weeks time, i cant wait!0

Thank you so much Rottiemad - that was really kind of you!
DH and I are applying as often as possible, but never have any luck..
I have also emailed Afrika Afrika directly, explaining the situation and asking politely if we can have complimentary tickets, but have heard nothing back.. I'm hoping we will, as I really would like to take these three lovely kids.. Oh well, you never know.
I'll keep checking my PM's to see if you have had better luck than me.
Thanks again,

Hi Susancs,
That was a really good suggestion - don't know why I didn't think of it myself! I emailed them a few days ago, but have heard nothing yet. Fingers crossed that I will do - I'll keep you posted!
Thanks for your interest - there are so many lovely people on this site (see Rottiemad's recent post) - I know it sounds cheesy, but it's really heartwarming.
Kind regards,

We are in London this weekend, has anyone had any luck for then. If you manage to make an application, when do you normally get tickets.
