wanna Makro card

My employees don't do Makro cards- won't even entertain the thought.
Does anyone know if there is another way I can get hold of one?
Thankyou.

If you help with a charity, school PTA, voluntary organisation or something like that you might be able to get one?

If you're anywhere a Costco they allow some individuals to have cards, but you have to pay an annual fee. I don't think their range is as big as Makro, but if you want to find out more have a look at Is CostCo any good? on the Small Biz & Charity Board.

Thanks for that S Sue. Unfortunately not connected to charities etc. and nearest Costco is 1 3/4 hours away.

    Thanks again.

Don't bother-got one myself and never use it; I can get everthing I want elsewhere and often cheaper.(unless you're in business)!
  • When I wanted a card the Makro's I went to wanted to see a business card first. Unfortunately I didn't have one, "Never mind" says the girl behind the counter, "There's a machine that prints them beside the door over there".

So I printed myself a set of cards and got a Makro card as well. However, I agree with the previous poster, unless you have one on your doorstep they are not worth travelling to. Many's the time I've seen their special offers and thought it would be worth the trip only to find there were none available. Very often it's more hype than substance.

Makro's generally only worthwhile for the offers and even then they're not always cheap.

I have to say that has always been my impression as well. Also, IIRC they show their prices without VAT, they certainly used to, so it's easy to be bamboozled into thinking you have a bargain when you don't.

What is it you're after, taxi, that you think you need Makro for? And where are you? People may know other places to go!

Their trays of sirloin steaks are £5.something or other a kilo, equal to £1.50 per steak. I'm in Hull.

Right, can't help you with Hull, and if no-one else can - maybe re-post the question as "I wanna buy cheap steaks in Hull?" - you could try the England board and someone would come up with ideas?

I know in both Bristol and Guildford there are markets with decent butcher's vans onsite, maybe something similar in Hull.

Or there's Ted's idea of printing yourself a business card! Let's hear it for Ted for Post of the Month - August!

I have used my parent's Makro card in the past and in my experience the place is over-hyped. When you add on VAT the price difference is not worth the effort of getting to these places (and the two nearest to me are hard to find and that's with detailed instructions).

It's worth going once for the experience of the place, but just about anything purchased there can be bought cheaper and more conveniently locally.
